HOUSE STEFAN VAN DER WALT

The house is a single standing house on an open landscape surrounded by game.

The open plan and use of large glass panels was to minimise the boundary between the inside and the outside. Elements such as the timber deck entrance extends through the house to link the outside and inside with each other.

A large extended roof overhang protects the north facade that is almost entirely a glass wall to allow maximum natural light and ventilation into the bedrooms on first floor and the living room on ground floor.

The large covered patio links well with the interior to create a large entertainment area that has maximum view over the landscape. On the west of the house a open fire boma area is introduced for a more intimate outside relaxing space.
